Our Hot Topics in Pediatric Emergencies conference focuses on many challenges facing Pediatric and Emergency physicians, nurse practitioners, PAs, nurses, and other healthcare professionals involved in the clinical care of children. The goal of this conference is to increase the knowledge and enhance the competence of attendees. Emphasis will be placed on practical application of the evidence-based topics presented.

Topics for this year’s conference have been selected based on the educational needs determined from the identified professional practice gaps. The gaps were derived from a variety of sources including evaluations and outcomes data from past participants; clinical expert input; Symposia Medicus’ online survey; and other medical and nursing data.

Conference format will include didactic lectures, case studies, and question and answer sessions.

An outstanding faculty has been assembled for this conference. Each member was selected based on their individual area of expertise and ability to communicate current, evidence-based, and practical information to participants.

You are sure to enjoy our Hot Topics in Pediatric Emergencies conference while sharing ideas and experiences with colleagues from across the country in the beautiful setting of the Amalfi Coast and Greek Isles.

As a result of participating in this conference, you should have increased knowledge and enhanced competence to…

Discuss the risk factors for severe or fatal asthma

Avoid common pitfalls in diagnosing pediatric orthopedic injuries

Discuss minor head injury in different pediatric age groups

Manage the pediatric patient with a cardiac emergency

Develop an age-based differential diagnosis for the child with pneumonia

If a pregnant guest has entered or will be entering their 24th week before or during the cruise, they are NOT ALLOWED to travel.

If a pregnant guest is less than 24 weeks, a physician’s “Fit to Travel” note stating that they are in good health, not a high risk pregnancy, and not entering the 24th week must be presented at check-in and carried aboard.

Children must be at least six months old by September 9, 2019, to go on the cruise. Denial of boarding for children who do not satisfy this minimum age requirement may also result in the denial of boarding for one or more guests sailing with that child. No refunds will be given as a result of the denial of boarding to an underage child or other accompanying guests.

Passport Books (not Passport Cards) are REQUIRED for every passenger including children and infants. If you do not have a passport, please allow a minimum of 4-6 weeks to receive it after you complete and mail the application. Your passport cannot expire before March 21, 2020.

It is the sole responsibility of the guest to identify and obtain all required travel documents and have them available when necessary. These appropriate valid travel documents such as passports, visas, inoculation certificates, and/or family legal documents are required for ship boarding and country entry and/or re-entry into the United States and other countries. Based on nationality, many countries require an entry visa.

Guests who do not possess the proper documentation may be prevented from boarding their flight or ship, or from entering a country, and may be subject to fines.

Note: No refunds will be given to individuals who fail to bring proper documentation.

For additional passport and visa requirements, visit the U.S. Department of State’s website at

or Embassies (Consular Service Office) of each country on the sailing itinerary.

If you purchase Air Transportation through Celebrity’s ChoiceAir® Program:

Celebrity’s ChoiceAir® Program allows you to purchase airline tickets at the best available prices. After you are registered and receive a reservation number, you can book directly on the website at or by calling (800) 533-7803 and speaking with an air agent (service fees may apply). Any changes or cancellations may be subject to
non-refundable service charges and additional airfare costs.

By using Celebrity’s ChoiceAir® Program, you can:

Receive the lowest fares on available flights

Choose your preferred airline and specific itineraries

Receive assured arrival to the ship if any delays or cancellations occur

Receive 24-hour assistance with flights

Note: Infant fares (six months to two years old) cannot be booked online. You must call the Celebrity’s ChoiceAir® Program Support Desk at (800) 533-7803 or the airline directly to add your infant to the booking.

If you make your own air arrangements, you should allow a minimum of four hours from the time your flight arrives in Rome, Italy to the time you must check-in at the ship (by 3:30pm). Note: Ship check-in begins at 11:30am and concludes at 3:30pm.

Going home, you should allow at least 4 hours between when the ship disembarks in Rome and your plane departs (disembarkation starts at approximately 6:00am). The 4 hours allow you time for ship clearance, customs clearance (if applicable), and airline security. You can also request to be one of the first groups to depart the ship by going to the Guest Relations Desk as soon as possible once you board the ship and letting them know that due to a tight airline schedule, you need to be included in the first group off the ship.

For more information on ground transportation, please visit our website.

If you choose to make your own air travel arrangements, you can purchase Celebrity Cruises® transfers to/from the ship. Once you have arrived and collected your luggage at the airport, you will be met by a Celebrity Cruises® representative outside the Baggage Claim area who will assist you with transportation to the ship. When you return from your cruise and have claimed your luggage, a Celebrity Cruises® representative on the pier will direct you to your transportation to the airport. Note: The transfers are only available on the scheduled day of ship embarkation (September 9, 2019) and disembarkation (September 20, 2019) based on flight times.

Transportation must be booked with Symposia Medicus by Friday, June 14, 2019. Your flight itinerary must be provided in order to confirm your transfers.

If you book through Symposia Medicus, for cabins 08 and higher, you will receive a Classic Beverage Package (valued at $714 per person) for the 1st & 2nd persons, (includes gratuities).

The Classic Beverage Package includes: unlimited fountain and can sodas (Coca Cola products), bottled juices (cranberry, tomato, pineapple, and apple), fresh juices, premium teas and coffee (Lavazza and Cova), non-premium bottled water, certain types of beer and wine, as well as non-premium spirits and cocktails.

If you do not book your cabin through Symposia Medicus, reserved an Interior Stateroom, or you would like to add a beverage package for your additional guests (if applicable), you can purchase a beverage package directly through Celebrity Cruises. Please note that if you do not have a beverage package all beverage purchases will incur an 18% service charge.

The Edge has four restaurant options in the Main Dining room: Cosmopolitan, Cyprus, Normandie, and Tuscan. When you make your cruise reservations, you can request either Main Dining (6:00pm), Late Dining (8:30pm), or Celebrity Select Plus Dining (6:00-9:30pm).

If you request Main Dining (6:00pm) or Late Dining (8:30pm) you will automatically be assigned one of the four restaurants named above. You can request a change in restaurant once aboard the ship on the first day.

If you request Celebrity Select Plus Dining (6:00-9:30pm) you can make reservations in advance (by August 31, 2019) online with Celebrity or once aboard the ship on the first day. You will pick specific restaurants and times for your entire sailing.

Please inform us if you or your guests have any special food or dietary requirements and, for Main or Late Dining times, inform us of other cruise passengers (not occupants in your cabin) with whom you would like to sit. Your final dining assignment will be indicated in your eDocs, unless your requested dining time is not available (you will be waitlisted). If you are waitlisted, you can go to the Guest Relations Desk once aboard the ship to see if you can change your dinner seating time.

If you reserved a suite, you are automatically booked for Main Dining in the specialty restaurant Luminae. If you have any requests or changes you will make them with your butler once aboard the ship.

Complimentary room service is also available 24-hours a day. For more information on dining options for this ship, please visit

Please note you can expect two evening chic and nine smart casual dress nights.

All gratuities must be pre-paid and will be included in your final cruise balance. This covers your cabin steward (and butler, if suite), head waiter and assistant waiter.

Non-Suite gratuities are $159.50 per person

Concierge Class gratuities are $165.00 per person

Suite gratuities are $198.00 per person
