Our 17th Annual Winter Conference on Clinical Issues in OB/GYN has been designed for physicians, certified nurse midwives, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses and other health care professionals who face ever-increasing challenges in the clinical diagnoses, treatment options, and new technologies involved in caring for the female patient. The goal of this conference is to present current clinical data on clinical dilemmas in obstetrics and gynecology, along with treatment options to manage these challenges.

Topics for this year’s conference have been selected based on professional practice gaps identified that resulted from extensive target audience needs assessment data. The needs assessment data were derived from a variety of sources including evaluations and outcomes data from past participants; clinical expert input; Symposia Medicus’ online survey; and other medical and nursing data.

Conference format will include didactic lectures, smaller group breakouts and question and answer sessions.

An outstanding faculty has been assembled for this conference. Faculty members are committed to providing participants with current data. Each member was selected based on individual area of expertise and ability to communicate evidence-based and practical information to participants.

Nurse Practitioners/Nurses
The ANCC contact hours awarded for completion of this conference are 18.

Provider is also approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider #CEP2335, for 21.6 contact hours.

Pharmacology Credit for Prescriptive Authority
A maximum of 1.25 hours in pharmacology credit for prescriptive authority may be earned by attending this educational conference. Sessions awarding pharmacology credit for prescriptive authority are denoted with an Rx in the schedule.


Smaller group sessions will be held Friday afternoon. These breakout sessions are organized to provide an opportunity for greater participant/faculty interaction, and will give you an opportunity to discuss subjects relating to your particular area of interest. Please indicate your breakout session topic choice on the conference registration form in this brochure. Space is limited, please reserve early.


Each registrant will receive an extensive conference syllabus that includes materials on each topic presented. The syllabus is available on electronic media or paper (black and white type/photos only). The full color electronic syllabus will be available for download approximately two weeks prior to the conference (you’ll receive an email with instructions). If you wish to receive a paper syllabus, please check the box on the registration form in this brochure.

If you bring your laptop/tablet to the conference, be aware that there are no electrical outlets at the conference tables. Make sure your laptop/tablet is fully charged each day.

If you are unable to attend the conference, extra copies of this syllabus (either paper or electronic version) will be available one week after the conference. The cost is $60 for a paper syllabus and $25 for the electronic version. To place your

Group Rates have been arranged at the Westin Resort. These rates will also be available three days before and three days after the conference, based on availability, if you wish to extend your stay.

Two nights’ deposit (room rate only) must accompany your reservation. The balance of your lodging, hotel fees as stated below, and all incidental charges are due to the hotel. The hotel accepts most major credit cards.

Room Type Group Rates
Island View $249/night 380 sq. ft. lower floor room features a view of the Aruba island countryside. Also features Heavenly Bed, Heavenly Bath, signature décor, and flat screen TV.
Partial Ocean View $264/night 380 sq. ft. upper floor room features a partial view of the ocean. Also features Heavenly Bed, Heavenly Bath, signature décor and flat screen TV.
Ocean View $279/night 380 sq. ft. upper floor room features a view of the ocean, Aruba coast, and pool. Also features Heavenly Bed, Heavenly Bath, signature décor, and flat screen TV.
All rooms offer complimentary wireless internet and a private balcony. The only difference is the floor they sit on, their location in the hallway, and the direction they face. Island View rooms are on floors 5-9 of the hotel, and Partial Ocean and Ocean View rooms are on floors 5-18 of the hotel.


Hotel Policies

Group rates above do not include the following mandatory charges, subject to change:
- State & local taxes of 10.7%
- Resort charge of 12.8%
- One-time Porterage charge of $6.00 per person (18 years and older), roundtrip
- Housekeeping fee of $2.50 per person (18 years and older), per day

Maximum room occupancy is four (regardless of age).

Mandatory additional person charges (see below) include daily buffet breakfast (not to exceed maximum occupancy):
- Children 4 years and under are FREE in room with adults
- Children 5-12 years old are an additional $10 each, per night
- Children 13-17 years old are an additional $18 each, per night
- 3rd and 4th guest in room (18 years and older) are an additional $55 each, per night (does not include Housekeeping or Porterage Charges)

Check-in time is 4:00pm and check-out time is noon.

Self Parking is complimentary at the hotel.

Early Departure Fee: Please notify the hotel at check-in if there are any changes to your scheduled departure, as an early departure fee equal to one night’s room rate and tax will be charged to any guest who checks out of the hotel before their stated departure date.

Cancellation Policies

Conference cancellations must be confirmed in writing and a 10% of paid tuition processing fee will be assessed. No refunds will be made if cancellation is postmarked after January 2, 2013; however, tuition, less 10% processing fee may be applied to a future Symposia Medicus conference. 

Per our hotel contract, hotel reservation cancellations must be made in writing to Symposia Medicus and you will receive a full refund if postmarked by December 5, 2012. Between December 6, 2012 and January 2, 2013, one night’s deposit is forfeited. After January 2, 2013, no hotel refunds can be made. 

All cancellations must be made in writing and postmarked by the dates stated above.

In the unlikely event of conference cancellation by Symposia Medicus, full tuition and, if reservation was made with Symposia Medicus, hotel deposit refunds will be made. Symposia Medicus will not be responsible for refunding travel or any other expenses.  


You will fly into the Queen Beatrix International Airport, which is approximately a 15-minute drive to the Westin Resort.
